Ana Gilmour Dressage is about The Horses, first and foremost. But it is also very much about the People who love them we meet along the way.... and Ana's group of students that has grown over the years is nothing short of amazing. From young riders, to adults new to riding, to vintage riders earning their medals well into their late 70's... Ana has been beyond blessed to have built a strong community of horse lovers who are as committed to their riding goals as they are to their equestrian community, and it is INSPIRING.
Life at the barn is certainly about becoming a better rider, a little bit, each and every day, for the love of our horses. But it isn't complete without the unwavering support of our beloved barn buddies. Life with horses is about the amazing personal journey our horses give us as individuals which pushes us outside our comfort zone to the direction of progress. But it also becomes about the sense of belonging that develops as we build relationships with fellow equestrians, and it is within that belonging we can find another layer of ground to gain and grow in.
As you might be aware, equestrian culture is a mirror of our horses: strong and tough on the exterior, but at its core with a herd instinct and sensitivity. It pushes us to greatness, teaches us patience and challenges our ability to think and act as a team. Barn life reminds us that it's ok to fall off, as long as we get back on, and with the help of our horses and the encouragement of those around us, we learn to enjoy the wonderful journey that is the life of riding. At Ana’s barn, the sense of equine community is palpable. She carefully fosters an environment steeped in positivity, where drama is quickly diminished. Additionally, Ana serves on the board as Chapter Chair of the California Dressage Society — Foothills Chapter.
